Kavarna is also known for its rich history dating back to the time of the Thracians who settled the plateau of Cape Chirakman and form the settlement called Bisone.

The cape has been a landmark for sailors throughout the years.Once a strong earthquake demolishes and sinks the settlement, the Romans, realizing the strategic location of Chirakman, decide to settle down for good. In the 6th century, with the arrival of the Slavs and the Proto-Bulgarians on these lands, Bisone was renamed Karvuna.
